πŸŒ… What does the sunset / sunrise function do?

TomatoTent switches the light gently. So its more like in nature, where the sun slowly rises and sets.

:sunrise_over_mountains: When the light in TT switches on, it starts at 10% brightness. Within 15 minutes it reached the full 100% brightness.

:sunrise: After a full days growing, the opposite happens. The lamp goes from 100% to 10% and then off.

Why?

When i grew my first plants long ago, I noticed something strange.

Every evening when the light switched off, my plants started to smell like freshly cut lawn.

The smell was only there for a minute before it disappeared…

And it only happened right after the lamps switched off.

Years later I read that the smell of freshly cut grass is a distress signal.

Its the grass trying to somehow save itself.

You could read that article here.

So why did my Cannabis smell like a freshly trimmed lawn when the light goes dark?

Well, probably because it the light goes dark so sudden, the plant stresses out…

I mean, It doesn’t happen like that in nature, right?

And that’s why we switch the light gently.

One more reason why you get more and better weed from Tomatotent.

I didn’t think of it until just now, but having a secondary trigger or switch for a set of Emerson boards to come on 15 minutes before lights off would be really cool.
